Memorial in the Jacob Groenewoudplantsoen
The memorial site comprises several elements, including an anti-tank gun, a battered aeroplane propeller, a memorial bench and a memorial stone. The park commemorates the Battle of Arnhem, which began on 17 September 1944, and specifically the Dutch lieutenant Jacob Groenewoud, who was commander of Jedburgh Team ‘Claude’ and the only Dutch officer to lose his life during the battle.
